Mexico City Breaks World Record For Kissing

How do you fight rampant violence and unheard of murder rates? If your answer was love, or more specifically, kissing, you may belong in Mexico City. As an answer to the country’s recent drug wars that have left tens of thousands of victims dead or beaten, Mexico’s capital organized a group kiss to break the Guinness Book of Record’s title holder for most simultaneous kisses.

“We love demonstrating our love in front of everyone and in front of our family,” said Lucia Gutierrez, 38, who spent the afternoon rehearsing with Vicente Romero, 34, her boyfriend of 10 months. “There’s nothing bad about showing your love.”

Almost 40,000 people were involved in the kiss, making it quite a success by any measure -including the Guinness Book. The event also provided free education on preventing AIDs and maintaining a violence free relationship.
